Is It Science or Magic?

Monroe students were excited to participate in a fantastic school assembly called "Science or Magic?” brought to our school by Monroe PTA.  Both science and magic have the ability to amaze and fool people.

This show encouraged students to see the difference between the two, and motivated them to learn more.  Giant smoke rings demonstrating air pressure,  beach balls balancing on streams of air, and a streamer of toilet paper floating out over the crowd, amazed students.  One lucky student even rode a hovercraft across the gym floor!

The best part was that members of the audience were able to participate in creating the wonder.  This assembly was very timely for our upcoming Science Fair and has increased our number of participants!  It is always exciting to see what students come up with on their own!

Craig High School
Science Teacher Shelly Learned from Craig High School has been recognized for her leadership with Link Crew by other districts and across the state.

In November, she presented at the State Superintendent’s Conference on Special Education & Pupil Services Leadership Issues, focusing on the Freshmen Transition Experience. She has also presented at the Safe and Supportive Schools Conference (twice) and the Adolescent Health and Wellness Symposium hosted by DPI.

Parker High School
Once again the Parker Adaptive music class will be partnering with the Wisconsin Singers from UW-Madison for a concert to benefit our “Trees for Tomorrow” trip.

This year we were lucky to also get support and partnership from the Craig Spotlighters and the Franklin Middle School Show choir. The concert will be held at Craig High School on Friday, February 21st at 7:00 PM.
