What’s Right in the School District of Janesville

What’s Right in the School District of Janesville (SDJ) is a forum to recognize outstanding performances and achievements by SDJ employees, students and schools.

SDJ Students Succeed in Online Math Contest!’s free math games are designed to improve numeracy for students in upper elementary school through middle school. Concepts range from addition to square roots, adapting to student skill level. Sumdog addresses over 100 numeracy topics and has 10 different levels within each topic.

Over 600 students from across Green and Rock Counties competed in the most recent contest.  Eight out of the top ten ranked students attend the School District of Janesville! Congratulations!

What is happening at the Janesville Academy of International Studies?

Model United Nations - The JAIS will have two delegations representing Brazil and Cuba to the Statewide Model UN conference in March 2013.

Virtual Science Challenge - The JAIS team of four students is working through online modules, learning basic nuclear physics and about the spent nuclear fuel. The JAIS team is working with their partner team in Russia to design a final project of a virtual conference in April 2013.

Critical Issues Forum - The JAIS team of four is working through two mini-projects with the goal of arriving at the final project presentation to be held in Monterey, California in April 2013.  The topic is ‘Toward a World with Zero Nuclear Weapons’.

Great Texts in Wisconsin - The JAIS students will be reading a world literature selection by the Humanities Department at UW Madison. Students will participate in the statewide conference in March 2013.
