Delivering Bags of Hope – What is it?
The School District of Janesville (SDJ) will hold the 4th Annual Community Food Supply Event, “Delivering Bags of Hope” on Saturday, December 15, 2012. SDJ social workers compile a list of families that will receive the donated items. The goal is to supply families with two weeks of groceries.
Staff, students, community members and businesses donated $40,000 to the event last year. Local businesses donated food products, the distribution site and materials to the drive.
Last year, the generosity of our community allowed us to distribute groceries to over 300 families and 75 senior citizens across the community. The School District of Janesville is hopeful to serve as many families and senior citizens this year.
The food drive will accept cash or checks only through Wednesday, November 28, 2012.
Checks may be made out to the School District of Janesville or Delivering Bags of Hope and delivered to any school office or the Educational Services Center, 527 S. Franklin St., Janesville, WI 53548, care of Denise Jensen.
Receipts will be given so contributors may claim donations on their taxes.
