What’s Right in the School District of Janesville – Middle School Style!

What’s Right in the School District of Janesville (SDJ) is a forum to recognize outstanding performances and achievements by SDJ employees, students and schools.  The most important factor in a student’s educational success is the quality of the teacher in the classroom.  Today’s blog is dedicated to some of the incredible teachers in our middle schools!
Edison Middle School Teachers Welcome Sixth Grade Families
Edison Teachers Krista Twist, Craig Bergum, Kay Knilans, Nicole Berger and Sarah Abbey (Edison’s Vista Volunteer) worked together to create a sixth grade family night which took place last week. Sarah Abbey was able to secure donations for almost 90% of the food for this event. The families were able to have hot dogs or brat, with chips, fruit, and a juice.  The purpose of the family night was for the parents to come to Edison and have their son/daughter read a short story (that they wrote) to them. It was a huge success!
Franklin Middle School Teacher Wins State Award
Franklin Middle School Teacher Sean Gremminger was chosen as the secondary level teacher of the year for the Wisconsin PTSA!  This is the second year in a row that a Franklin Middle School teacher won this award (Holly Mauel won the award last year)!

Marshall Middle School Teachers Takes Group to Trees for Tomorrow
Fifty-two Marshall Middle School students went on the 3 day trip to Trees for Tomorrow.  Over 90 students applied to go.  This was the largest group Marshall has ever taken.  The teachers that helped chaperone are Anne Gohlke, Matt Wolf, David Garvin, Nancy Sonka, and Diane Hulick.
